Hi gang; I was wondering if some of you Poser Gods out there could give me some assistance. I've been trying to create some custom transparency maps for some clothing in Poser 6. The problem is after the map is applied for many objects, many times the part that is supposed to be transparent leaves is still faintly visible, or still throws off reflections or shadows as if it is still there. In the attached example, this is pretty clearly seen: the top of the leotard that is supposed to be hidden is still faintly visible...compounding the problem is the whole suit is now somewhat transparent. In the 2nd example next to it; a transparency map was applied to shorten Vicky's dress, but the hidden part is still throwing off a shadow as if it were still there. Is there something I'm missing in the material room? Is there a problem with the transparency maps I'm making? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

For the first issue (the yellow bodysuit), the fix should be as easy as plugging the trans map into the "Specular Value" node as well as the transparency node. Not too sure about the second issue as I've never encountered it.

The second image is due to lighting. Shadow cam aiming will help, and size shadow size. I would suggest 128.

Is there an option to have no light interaction when fully transparent?

No need to think outside the box....

Just to double check yourself, make sure your blacks are 100% black and your whites 100% white. If your blacks are really very dark greys your going to see some "ghosting" or effects.

Make sure "transparency fall off" is set to zero!

Thanks for the replies...the problem with the leotard was the black wasn't "total" in PS..253 instead of 255 and neededing to plug into the specular map. The second issue was solved when I hit "set up ambient occulsion". Weird...
