maybe my monitor is just too light.. but i can still see detail & shades in the knife.. a true silhouette has very little to the interior...like your first one ;]

After checking on one of my other monitors I found it to be quite light and a lot fo detail still in it. My findings is there reallly has to be a good light behind an image to shoot an effective silouhette.

pity on the image not being a true silo but good image none the less. Very creative, and I do like the title...

I should adjust my monitor; is there a 'color bar' or similar test that you can recommend for calibrating it?

OOOH I so have to use these links to fix lappy!Thanks Cindy!It looks like a total silhouette to me!I knew my screen was a bit dark but now I know it's way way off! Lovely compo on this shot.And your title is very thought-provoking!I really like what you did here,Denger.

Thank you all so much for your sincere comments, and my especial thanks go out to cynlee for posting the links. I'm afraid I am a rank amateur when it comes to computer graphics-related subjects, so I am sure these will be a big help!

Wow, I adjusted the brightness and contrast of my monitor and this alone showed me what I was missing! Thanks again, one and all!
