Hello Renderosity comunity,
Its been years since my last post here. Renderosity was, actualy, the first CG forum I was posting. It inspired me to do 3D art in the firt place. Maybe, i'll come around more often from now on. Anyway, I am here to present you a project I did. Its a 5 min. animated movie, and my second project so far.
Its done with Maya 5.0, AE6.5, Nuendo 2.0 and 20 IBM workstations.

Any comments, critiques, questions? Please tell me, or ask me!

I am giving special thanks to 3DBuzz here. His VTMs made this possible.

Just checked it out. I like the intro! The only problem I noticed right away was that when the boy walks through from the sliding doors in the beginning, he makes no shadows on the ground as he walks into the light, but then in the following shots, his shadow is there. Maybe a compositing error? Good work!

Rodic ( ) posted Sat, 26 November 2005 at 5:20 AM

Toolz, you are right about the shadows, it is a compositing error. Actualy, I forgot to render it out from maya. Later on, I ment it was no big deal, so I left it like that. You may also notice another error in that shoot when he is siting on a bench. The plant he left on the grond is not there. Anyway, thanks for the c&c.

There's some very nice stuff in this movie! If you haven't been around in a while, you might not know that we now have an Animation Outlet (see sidebar near the top under the "Features" section). It's not quite a full gallery - there isn't an option to add comments yet - but still it would be great if you could post a link to this piece there as well as here.

Before they made me they broke the mold!

I like the concept, story, etc. Visuals are good, but the character animation itself seems to fall a bit short of the production level the rest of the movie has. The boy's hands, in particular, seem very stiff, and there's not enough secondary motion. On the positive side, I think the camera work is done very well, and you obviously did a good job with previz, since the shots are laid out nice and logically. The lighting is very good (apart from the few compositing problems already mentioned). Unfortunately, I didn't get to hear the sound, since my speakers are broken. Good work overall! Thumbs up!
