Subject: The comment base!

So, after browsing through some galleries (at thumbnail view) i noticed something peculiar: Some of the great artists here, have the same number of comments on their posts, that is, in average. I found it a bit strange that all posts by 'artist X' always get the attention & comments of 60-70 viewers. 8) What do you think? Maybe commenting on a picture has become just a habit, a routine - some of us tend to comment each picture by our favourite aritst, no matter how good (or bad) it is. No hard feelings, please, I thought it was kinda funny!!

Some people will have favourite artists and tend to comment on each picture that they do, if you look at different pictures of "artist x" you will probably see a lot of the same people commenting on their pictures.

In the last 24 hours theres nearly 200 images uploaded to the gallery. A thumbnail isn't always a clue to what the image is really like. So if you know an artist always delivers a quality image, like lundquiest, and you see the name you'll go for that. Thats one way I look.

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.

after a time, you develop an 'amen corner'; of people who check out and comment on your stuff. And you get a similar number of hits on each page, mainly from the ebots sent out to people who have made you a 'favrut'..;) The way you know you've done something special is if the count goes way up. You can use thumbnails to spark interest. Put in *almost* all the good parts of the pic (faces, action, etc), and leave what must be the rest of the picture out of the thumbnail. This is called 'cropping', and you can do it with programs like 'the Gimp', below..which can also do the dark side; postwork..

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

So... "Bring out the gimp" eh? ;) I know about thumbs & postwork, you can check out my gallery any time! What i was talking about is that i beleive the comments loose their purpose when mindlessly given around praising each posting. Not all posts are equally good, even by the same artist, but the comments are always praises.
