Subject: You ever Wonder Why?.. In P6

You ever Wonder Why?.. In P6
When you select an item or anatomy of a charactor your scene then jumps to a different camera view?

Is there a way to save "for ever" a single click camera view so you can quickly go back to the view you want to render in? This would also be helpfull for when we purposely move the view to make close up adjustments.
Whats a cameras "memory & restore" option? I've had unreliable results with it.

You ever Wonder Why?..
There isn't a better way to move around in the libraries.
I'm famous for going one level too far back then where I want to be.
There should be a single click tab or something.

You ever Wonder Why?..
When you use the drag box to select a render area your render ends up 5 inches over from where you selected?
Or is that just happening to me? ")

You ever Wonder Why?..
Your figure defaults with an "IK Chain" on the legs?
Causing the figure to do wierd things during big pose changes? I always first shut them off now.

You ever Wonder Why?..
When after posing a charactor with limits off and then after locking the entire figure you turn limits on to pose a second charactor and the "locked" one adjusts?

Wow thats alot for one thread. ")

I'm sure some of this is a limit of the software but possibly others are my novicness?

Thanks.

Scott

I"ll address your first problem and I think the answer lies in, "Which camera are you viewing the scene with" If you're using a figure/head/or hand cam, then yes, the entire scene will change when you change figures... that's what those cameras are meant to do. Instead, try the main view, or dolly cam. Doug

I came, I rendered, I'm still broke.

I have tried a couple .python tools for loading content without going through the Poser Library interface, but they have been complicated to install and unstable aside from Ockham's wonderful loader.py. But that loader does not have the file tree or folder Icons that I would like. P3d0 has a nice feature of bundling content with its .rsr and/or .png but I can't get "open with Poser" to work. Using Poser Remote Procedure Call with 3Pdo or Explorer on my computer causes severe crashes. I intend to try Advanced Library after I complete some critical non-Poser work on my machine as I am frightened by all the new .dll involved. Are there any other software or products that will alow me around the Poser library interface? Until then the Poser loder.py is a wonderful tool, i especially like its feature of loading a whole folder of morphs if you like... in my opinion that beats INJposes!

One other thing... somewhere in the forum here was a thread with a .py for saving the combined figure body morphs of a figure so you can REM all and reload the single set of new morphs... this was before I had gotten my unimesh figures I believe. Can someone point me too it? I have not found it by search yet.

Try Advanced Library, with this tool you are even able to put all files for one item in one folder, means character, pose, cam, light whatever you want. Well, you cant access the non character items in this case from poser but why should you when you use Advanced Library. Now you have e.g. one cloth with all the MAT poses together. Great!!

You can, but you don't have to do that in order to have Advanced Library display the different categories together...

And even if you move all items from the different library folders into one folder, you should still be able to use that setup with poser, using shortcuts. (But that's relying on Poser supporting that in future releases...)

You ever Wonder Why?.. There isn't a better way to move around in the libraries. I'm famous for going one level too far back then where I want to be. There should be a single click tab or something. from what i understand the makers of Poser never anticipated the size or complexity of runtimes today. If you think it is hard getting around in P6 libraries, you should try p5 or worse p4. at least in p6 you can undock the library and expand it to multiple columns. hint: if you havent seen it before....click on the triangle on the upper right of the library for a menu style navigation in the current runtime. also note (in sr2) that if you are focused on the library (i.e. it was the last thing you clicked on) you can hit your backspace key and it will go up one level (like it does in windows). you can also navigate the library items and insert items with the arrow keys and the enter key.

Here's my own 'ever wonder why in P6?' I used to save a prop as New Set as a 'clone' functionality. Just save it, then click on New Set, and the prop copy appears in your scene. But after saving a prop as New Set in P6 SR2, the view jerks back up to the top of the Props library column. Then I have to back down searching for New Set. This slows me way down. Have you wondered why they did this?

Thanks for all the feedback.
It has been very helpful.

I stumpled apon Advanced Library a while back & use this religously. It's much simpler then the default.

{Quote at least in p6 you can undock the library and expand it to multiple columns.Quote}

Multiple columns?
Is this the same as advanced?
No need to answer I will try this.

I also read in a nother thread that we can turn our tool bars sideways. Another option I wilkl try soon.

Thanks Again. Scott

Here's something I have always wondered. Why, after changing a texture in the Materials room, does Poser set my tracking to Full, instead of fast, which is its normal setting? P5 AND p6 both do this.
