you would know best if her nose looks too big.. :] the problem with this particular photo is the focus is behind her head when holding the cam yourself instead of using a tripod.. best to take as many as you can.. 1/10 is pretty good & since your camera has a fixed lens.. then you're looking at PSP correction.. i have found the distortion effects>pincushion or pinch works well in correcting the natural curvature of the lens
The technical reason her nose is getting too big is caused by the wide angle effect. Professional portrait photographers (as I am not, absolutely not! :) have a rule to use about 90 mm lenses to get the best portraits with only least distortion. Dependent on the camera you use (those focal lengths confuse me on modern digicams, all based on different values), it's about a 2 times magnification compared to normal (whatever that 'normal' might be). And Emma certainly deserves to get on the picture undistorted! :)
The thing with me is that I don't have the energy, that is I am to lazy, to learn advanced cameras. This summer I bought something "in the middle", a Konica Minolta Z5, but I have already sold it, to much settings for me. I have my litle favourite, Canon Ixus 400, have had it for 3 years now and stil love it. The right size for my jeans pocket, and just shoot that's me :-) That which comes thereafter, the work on the photos, is my great interrest, there I have abundance of enery and time. Well, photo experts, I maybe not fit in here, but as a sponge I soak up a little knowledge here and there. So thanks for the help I get!

PTLens is a free plug in that will correct the distortion for you. If you have Photoshop it will do everything fully automatically from the EXIF data held in the image, if you use Paint Shop Pro then it requires you to set the type of camera used and lens zoom used. And every one said, 'If we only live,

If you are certain that Canon IXUS 400 is nowhere on your list, and you have installed the profiles as per instructions, I can e mail you the profile because it is listed on my version. If you then put the e mailed profile in the same folder as you put the others then it will appear on your list afterwards. IM me an e amil address if you want me to send you the profile for Canon IXUS 400 it is a 16KB file.

Thanks for mentioning the PTLens plug-in.Coincidentally ,my daughter does the same thing with her cam and has taken to using a high-key to eliminate her nose altogether,(to combat the distortion). Now she'll be able to 'keep' her nose, lol!

She looks absolutely lovely Gun. And i think you did a tremendous job on that picture. Yay for you! And Richard...what i can i say. The day you joined MAS was nothing but pure joy for the rest of us, lol. That plug-in seems invaluable to me and my panoramas. Thank you. #:O)

Nope i havent....too busy to browse the gallery (at least thats what i try to convince my co-workers...muahahaha). Taking a peak now...hang on...... ....... ....... Aaaawwww....doesnt she have an attitude. #:O) That one looks great Gun. Maybe you should do their "klassfoton". When i was little i thought the world used to be in B&W due to all the B&W photos...sigh. Then again, i thought the local paper-factory produced clouds as well when all it was was smoke coming out from those chimneys and not clouds....sigh...guess i wasnt the brightest boy on the farm, lol. #:oP

Nor would I, though it was fun while it lasted...though I didn't appreciate fully until afterwards. Isn't that always the way of it though. "Life is the process of learning how to live in the moment. When we finally figure out how to do it, we're dead." ;o]
