I can't seem to find the answer. On black lights that show on the light control, that are turned off in the properties window, are they still used the computations before rendering?

PoserPro 2014, Windows 7, AMD FX-6300 6 core, 8 GB ram, Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti

Lights that are off don't get a shadow map rendered for them, so as far as I can tell they don't need any rendering horsepower.
