Cherokee, Texas, est. 1878.. this is about all there is to it.. 15 mi down the other way from where we live (as opposed to Bend) a very small close-knit community.. more on the town [here](http://www.texfiles.com/tourintexas/Sept2003/) -another view in my gallery at the link hope to do that series of similiar small TX towns soon (& i haven't forgotten about posting the gas stations Sheila!!)

For some reason that movie "House of Wax" comes to mind. I too love old towns. I find them so charming, and your photos show it off perfectly. Must have been a beautiful day too...not a cloud in sight. Excellent entry! #:O)

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

what a wonderful town, Cindy!!!! Actually, it looks like a ghost town!! ooooh, is that a horse-drawn carriage in that bottom picture??? fantastic shooting and i love these!!! can't wait to see more gas stations too! :)

that little building in the middle with the ice chest in front is the closest "grocery store"..
if you just can't wait till the weekly run to the bigger city for supplies.. oh yes.. horse carriages.. i guess there for "ambience" ;] & a sled!.. LOL..

Looks close to the town I live in.... but we just got a fancy Grocery Store...built from scratch (30ft X 30ft) and not reusing one of the three other older buildings ...called Uncle Bubba's Fillingim

That is so cool they still have places like that.If they never had all the wires going to the buildings, now That would be hertiage huh.

My Town looks like a thriving Metropolis next to Cherokee,Tx. Wait a moment...Traffic Lights???? We don't have them! Maybe it is a buzy Town....a fine trio of Shots! salute
