And can it be converted to poser?

a 3ds file is a model format and it can be imported into poser and saved as a static prop.

And if you need it to be something else or want to map it, you can import it into poser and export it out as an .obj Sharen

3ds are usually triangulated though.

I have never had any problems importing objects to poser that are made of triangles.
