Subject: Textures are OK in the working window but are no show in renders

prixat ( ) posted Sat, 14 January 2006 at 1:36 PM · edited Tue, 19 November 2024 at 6:43 AM

I am importing obj/mtl from Daz|Studio and the model appears with textures correctly in the working window. (when I switch it to textured preview) When I render with either yafray or internal I get a faint colour on hair but generally the render has a dull grey blue cast and no sign of textures. What am I doing wrong?

You will need to assign materials (and image textures) to your mesh. These seem to be independent from those used for the "textured preview" in the working window.

Thanks, now I'll have to find out how to do that. Could the textures be attached at import by finding a different script to do the importing?

Probably yes (I think even one of the packaged import scripts of blender 2.40 does this). It may happen, though, that you will get nice renders, but the "textured prview" shows an ugly purple instead of nice textures, then. Another possibility would be to change/fix the import script... If you have a sample file set I might take a look into this.
