"Accordingly, I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your President." - Lyndon Baines Johnson, March 31, 1968
"I have never been a quitter. To leave office before my term is completed is abhorrent to every instinct in my body. But as President, I must put the interest of America first...Therefore, I shall resign the Presidency effective at noon tomorrow. Vice President Ford will be sworn in as President at that hour in this office." - Richard Millhouse Nixon, August 8, 1974
"Due to the sorry state of the galleries and other sections of Renderosity in terms of load speed (if it loads at all), I announce that I will be taking my business and enthusiasm for digital art elsewhere." - Borscht, January 17, 2006
Wow. I just love historical events!
Sorry, Mods, I couldn't resist. Somewhere we must find humor in all of this. I applaud your efforts over the last few days. I'm sure it hasn't been easy.
"Somewhere we must find humor in all of this."
Yes. Ha-ha. Old Borscht up there has no gallery and doesn't sell anything here. But I have and I do, and I'm getting sick of the ongoing inefficieny he's ventilating about. It wouldn't come anywhere near telescope-sight of a big deal for either me or Rendo if I wandered off somewhere else, since I'm not a Poser modeler and have no desire to head in that direction. On the web, though, it's all up for grabs, and if a site becomes so cludged up with freeloaders that it can't function effectively, then . . . well . . .
It is more than hypocrital to say this site is "clogged up with freeloaders." Many, if not most, of those who post art buy more than their fair share of items here. I daresay that buyers aren't freeloaders. And browsers often become buyers... but hey, if you don't want people perusing the site and looking for things to buy and looking at art that convinces them to buy... then by all means, go somewhere else. "Freeloaders" probably wouldn't appreciate being so unwelcomed. And truly, Renderosity does have pretty bad response times.
OMG....I can't help myself....I LOVE RENDEROSITY! I have grown sooo much as an artist since I have been coming here...and the amount of support I have got from my fellow artists is amazing..I have learned so many things here and made so many friends here...I will remain until the end! :) HUGS!!

Personally I feel that this is still one of the best art sites out there.Renderosity inspired me to become a digital artist. To Pearce...I was a "freeloader" before I decided to dive into the world of digital art.I used to love to browse the galleries for inspiration and ideas.I wanted to learn what digital art was all about.I have been with renderosity since September '05 and have developed so much as an artist.I just recently became a merchant here. And to be completely honest, most of the people who have purchasd my products do not have galleies here. But maybe they are just like me when I first came to renderosity, still learning and looking for inspiration.I think the change isn't all that bad.I'm staying with renderosity until they decide to call it quits. Those of you leaving renderosity will be replaced by many more new aspiring artists looking for a place to show off their stuff.Have a goood one :o)
Take a walk across internet and you will notice that renderosity, although it has things to improve, is one of the best places to go when you like 3d art. There is no doubt about it.
I completely agree with adh3d.When Renderosity is put up against other sites,it stands out.You guys cant be completely displeased with the new site. They made the changes with our best interests in mind.I admit there are some issues that need to be resolved and everyone will have their opinion. But as with all changes...It just takes some getting used to.
It's an old saw. We've seen others make similarly melodramatic announcements (complete with virtual trumpets blaring) concerning the perennial topic of leaving Renderosity forever! over this issue/that issue for years now. And such sweeping departures are usually accompanied by dire predictions of Renderosity's impending demise.
Rendo just keeps right on getting bigger. And Bigger. And BIGGER.
So-long, Borscht. Most likely, we'll see you back -- perhaps with a different nick.......as others have done before you. And you'll be welcomed.
Renderosity does appreciate us...why do you think they are busting their butts to make this site better...of course it is having some tough times now because of the switch over..and no doubt the site began to get slower and slower because of the load. The load is so big because this site is growing. Growing Pains I say..that is what the issue is here...and Rendo is just growing out of its clothes and needs new ones to cover all its important parts..which is US! :) I have heard people blow off steam and say goodbye they are leaving..and they do...but they come back...why do you think that is?? Because they miss the wonderful people here...that is what makes this site so strong is the people! :) HUGS!

Due to the sorry state of the galleries and other sections of Renderosity in terms of load speed (if it loads at all), I announce that I will be taking my business and enthusiasm for digital art elsewhere. This isn't some quick-jump decision, but one I've contemplated on since mid-November when many of us noticed a severe lack of speed at this site. What compounded the issue was a noticeably constant "Hang in there" and "Be patient" statements from the owners/moderators of Renderosity that soon bordered on hypocritical when the situation grew worse. It troubled me especially that there was always an immediate, if not patented, answer of "we're doing some changes" whenever the speeds became horrific. What should be a massive worry to some artists here on Renderosity is the lack of business understanding by those in charge. You can not expect any artist to stand pat for months on end while their biggest source of show and financial gain ignores their needs. Artists should be angry that Renderosity uses quick, positive-like statements in the forums that tell the artists to "bare with us" while things get worse. Certainly, it takes time...but at what expense to the artist and at what trust from those same? Promising to fix the central heart of Renderosity and actually doing it are seperate. And due to that course of action, Renderosity is losing my business and support and I would not be surprised if others followed the same lead. But it doesn't have to be that way. While I've made up my mind, the owners/moderators of Renderosity can stop any kind of defection in the near future by just getting the promises done. If that means hiring out for someone to fix the problems, so be it. You, Renderosity, need to remember the backbone of your website. It is the artist, not the advertisers, the bottom line or your lack of desire to do the necessary repairs.
