face_off has a tut on his homepage. Forget the manual until you get into the details. The tut will get a figure into the right Zbrush window and through UVmapper. That will keep you busy for a few months.Zbrush has built in tutorials called ZScripts..I'd recommend you follow some of those to get a basic understanding of the workflow & UI.

What is absolutely positively the most elementary zbrush tutorial? One that shows how to use the interface, the tools, the cameras and so forth before moving on to a project? The ultimate plan would be to make Poser morphs eventually.
