Hi! I haven't asked since 2003 according to the 'osity search I just did, so i'm sadly late. anyway, there is a great little FREE utility called "poserloader" - Copyright 2000 by Mike Audleman {wolfie} BETA 02/24/2000 what this does is make it so that you can unzip a poser file into a directory, point poserloader at it, and it will move all the files to their correct place in the runtime for the file to operate correctly; it also has built in objaction mover functions. this is not that big of a deal anymore, as most people put the correct file structure in their zip's, but if you have a massive collection of old freestuff, it's really, really handy (it also will examine a PZ3 file and make sure everything referenced is where it's supposed to be, btw). The problem is that it works fine for me for months, then just stops finding the poser directory structure it's supposed to show you so you can select where to put your files; I get around this by creating a new, empty directory structure, but it's very time consuming to do so, and it would be nice to not have to merge afterwords. in the past it has been suggested that i use pinstall instead; pinstall doesn't do the objaction process, and if there is something wrong with the structure of the file, it's useless IIRC; makes more sense to just unzip it to the right place. I've sent Wolfie e-mails pretty religiously over the past 5 years (!) on this, and no longer actually have any hope of getting the problem solved, but I hate to give up the tradition of complaining about it; plus, i', hoping that someone eventually will explain to me WHY it will work fine for months and then one day just stop working for no particular reason; i'm a programmer-lite myself, and stuff just doesn't DO that.

I can't help with your question unfortunately but I can quite honestly say that stuff just does do that. Ever heard of self modifying code? It's the bane of a programmer's life because it usually points to a flaw in the logic which makes the code behave in an unpredictable manner. Sometimes, very rarely, it's a desirable trait but mostly it's a pain in the nether regions. It's been over 10 years since I did any programming so I'm afraid I couldn't be of any assistance. The only thing I can suggest is to look at the code and see where it's getting the data it needs and what it's doing with the data afterwards. There may be an incremental counter used somewhere which is being written back into the code and corrupting another value. OTOH I could be completely, wildly off track.

Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
