From some comments I've seen, it will probably go into beta this fall, and be released early next year, but I'm just guessing based on off-hand comments.

It is almost time for the next version of Poser. Poser 5 should be a whole new generation and were all sitting at or computers waiting to download (and purchase). Imagine, all icons instead of being suffixed Pz3, will be suffixed Pz5. Not only that but look at the possibilities. 1 If you are running a newly downloaded and expanded pz5 and Poser asks for a texture or BUMP which you cant find, it will understand its not going to get it and just open the bloody file, and not hang about for 45 minutes looking for something it cant have. 2 A full scale Mac version. Poser can be an antichrist even on a G4, if like IE5 and Office2001 it were to make the complete journey and not just be able to open one file at a time unless it's p-pro. 3 Spellchecker, (maybe not). 4 The only advantage I can see in Lightwave (costing several big ones and still no spellchecker) is that it is broadcast quality, while the rest of us have to cop 72dpi Quicktime or Mediaplayer. Make it broadcast, no, make it HDTV outputting. 5 A simple 3d plug in app that only has to do Wavefront after all can help with the morphing. A Pz5 should not then have trouble with incorrect numbers of lines. This plug in could be the next grand epoc for the genre. The scope and capabilities of POSARRA-WAVE-MAX will send 3d into the next millennium, yes it is there already but now with more breadth and meaning, and switchable genitalia on female figures. 6 The decision to restrict this posting to 5 was unintentional.

uh... what on earth do you need a spellchecker in a graphics program for??? (or was that a program development joke? ;) ) and i think pz3's will still be pz3's. after all, there's no pz4's... ;) the only question i have is, will it be able to run pro pack python scripts as plug-ins?

ASIDE FROM GUESSING, What should or could we see in poser five in the way of new tools and stuff. my vote is for... new poser 5 figures, please no vicky no michial lets outdo them. new animals please contractible clothes one size fits all morphs like spandex. How about a speech designer this time around. collision/detection and physics like gravity a small scale modeler might be asking too much with boolian fuctions. oh yes tons of new clothes please. um I would like to see a better morph taget designer too. is flubber asking too much?

Oh yeah and dont skim on thew kids clothes this time around geez the baby got a diaper and the kids were sent running nakid down the street selling matches.
