Subject: Poser 5: Mac - Recommendations for good characters for this combo?

Hey all - I'm putting together a cgi film and now I'm in the process of finding some solid characters (M3) that work well with the Macintosh version of Poser 5.

  • I've purchased a couple of ten dollar M3 compatible male models but they were made for the PC so when I (use mac convertor and) use them on my Mac, strange things happen. In one case, the characters face stayed intact but his body has rainbow stripes all over it.

  • Also, I'm noticing that these M3 characters/models have limited facial expressions. I purchased the M3 Face/Body morph pack but the models I have only execute about a dozen of the facial expressions (when there're about 100 in the pack) - Ol' Poser Don is dynamite with facial expression but like in a real life film, you just can't use one actor for every character in the story.

So here's what I'm asking. Can anyone recommend a Poser 5 character/model that works well with the Mac? When I say this I mean for animation, not just posing. Facial expressions, the works. Most likely it will have to be for M3 since that's the only model I have other than Don. (I love Don, if there're any morphs for him let me know...)

Oh, and I've searched here on Renderosity but many of them are made on the PC and I'd be using the Mac Convertor - and like I said I've tried this a couple of times with mixed results.

Thanks!

use fernando's macConverter lite (or full version), if the file doesn't work without conversion. this was a problem in P4/OS 9, when a substantial part of the PC file was contained in a rsr section, but that may no longer be the case with newer PC files, where only the png section may cause problems. aiko3 also works o.k. in poser 5, OS X. but then, so do all the other figures AFAIK.

i don't do any conversions - all files work same on mac and pc - the only problem occasionally is the thumbnails don't show, but they render perfectly otherwise! love esther

MY ONLINE COMIC IS NOW LIVE

I aim to update it about once a month.  Oh, and it's free!

The rainbow stripes thing I have enountered before when I was using P5 (I use P6 now, it is much less painful) .. the problem comes from the texture either being too high of resolution or from it not being in the right power (1024, 2048, 3096 etc) but it sort of went interchangable on which it was. For the scial expressions there is a few expression sets around but I normally use the one at DAZ or just do them myself :)

I've been pleased with Momodot's Morfman for my animation. I'm using PPP on a Mac.

Before they made me they broke the mold!
