Subject: Poser OBJ Exporter (to Rhino) from eFrontier

Nate ( ) posted Fri, 24 February 2006 at 8:36 AM · edited Fri, 26 July 2024 at 1:35 PM

This item was in the recent Rhino newsletter:
Poser - OBJ Export for Rhino (Special offer end March 31, 2006)

The link led to eFrontier web page where, after entering the Poser 6 serial number, I was allowed to download the zip file for this utility.

I put the file in my Poser program folder, right next to the Poser.exe file.

Numerous attempts to install this repeatedly gave the same reply, "Poser not found in this system."

I even cut and pasted the path to Poser.exe into the query asking where Poser was, with the same result.

I have poser 6 installed on my "D" drive, and it is way too complicated to reinstall on the C drive just for the benefit of this utility. Poser runs great just where it is.

Nobody is home at eFrontier, no answers to emails, etc.

Any ideas?
Has anyone used this utility, and is it worth messing with?

thanks!
Nate

why not just use OBJto3DM it's a free stand alone converter. :) see link :)

I've had and used that for a while.

Maybe Objto3DM has been upgraded, but as far as I can tell, you can not edit the file in Rhino without a conversion that produces zilliions of facets once you open it. So, the file is not really a nurbs or .3dm file when it comes in to Rhino.

It looks like the current beta on Rhino says it will edit imported meshes (as they are) - will have to try that.

thanks
