Subject: Runtime Folder question

If you had the chance to start you Runtime folder all over again, what would you do differently? Sad thing is I lost the directory on my Hard Drive. It took me 52 hours to recover the data. Sad thing is that I recovered all my Poser files except the Geometries files. So as I said before if you could start all over again, how would you layout you Runtime Poser 6 folder?

I've had much practice with Runtime redos, LOL If I had to start my runtime folders (multiple runtime folders) over again I wouldn't do it any different than I do it now. I have my files organized in the best possible way for me and I know exactly what is in my folders and where to find them. The link above shows the base starting point of getting organized if you want to use multiple runtime folders. Once you set up the basic structure of a runtime you can organize it within anyway you like.

Well, if i'd lost geometries only, i'd just dump everything into a new runtime and then move geometries over to the old runtime... Other than that i'd drop all library files (cr2, pz2, pp2,..) into the same folder and just have file shortcuts point to that one folder containing the whole library structure so i can access them from Poser if needed. (Not that i'm usingn Poser's library interface for browsing anymore...) (Actually, i'm installing everything to its own folder beneath the Runtime folder (within subfolders for the store the item is from), naming it so i can easily locate it for updates etc. and then just throw a fileshortcut into the folder in the libraries folder.) Well, but that's just me ,-)

If I had to start all over, I'd get an external hard drive for backup. Then, once everything was re-installed, I'd back it up!

I was just at the MacWorld Show in San Francisco, in Jan. Maxtox was giving away T-shirts that said "Don't be a Loser" as an ad for their One Touch back up external hard drive units. Mine in now in route. With this unit I can boot from it and back-up selected folders. I not at a lost for my files. I have back up CD's and DVD's of my content. But nothing with my previous runtime structure.
