Subject: Static Motion blur

Ok, I have read through all the other posts, but did not find what I'm looking for. I want to know how to make a motion blur on a static image, not a movie. I can go into post and do it, but it never turns out right. I've seen other people that have used the object mask and do it in post, but how is it done? I would appreciate any help on this.

Well you render the scene and then render the scen eagain with object mask for the objects that you want or don't want blurred. You bring the renderd pic into photoshop (whatever you have. then you add the object mask render as a layer. You select the objects they will be white. In the case of this render i wanted to make it look like the camera was following the action so I reveresed the selection and applied a motion blur to the color layer. Works pretty good. when you do the motion blur think of what angle the object or the camera is moving. Also don't overdo it. Good luck.

Yeah, for the best results, as Dann-O has pointed out, you really should do multiple-renders and composite. AS
