Subject: Something miraculous just happened!!!

I pressed cancel during a render and something stupendous just happened. It stopped rendering! It didn't freeze, or threaten to blow up my computer, it just paused for a second and then stopped the render. I haven't tried it often since I got P6 because P4 was worthless for it, but I noticed my lighting wasn't right and tempted fate. And it worked!!! Long live Poser 6. I jest of course, but I wanted to share my delight with someone, and since you are the only people that know what the heck I'm talking about, I thought I'd post it. Schtumpy

make that two...you made mine too even though i haven't a clue what poser 4 is like. i may be jinxing myself here but i haven't encountered a problem (yet...knock on wood) that will cause me to pull my hair out.

LOL, yes, Poser 6 does actually cancel a render which I'm thrilled about. In Poser 5 I had to press "CTRL ALT DEL" dozens of times or turn my computer off...usually the later. Though I have found situations where Poser 6 doesn't cancel the render..at least not easily. The otherday I was struggling to render a simple scene and the blue bar would get to the letter "d" below "Rendering", and sit there for hours and hours. It seems that if the render isn't far along Poser 6 won't cancel it, so I had to turn my computer off each time until I got the problem worked out. Yay for STOMP!!! hehe

Poser always cancels the render but not until it finishes the current bucket, so if you are doing something like dynamic hair with complex lighting it can take a long time.

Never had a problem cancelling a render in P6. And, yes, I do it lots. The other feckers, though, P4 and P5, now that would be a different story. Hitting the computer with a fire axe was more effective - and satisfying - than hitting "Cancel".

I've cancelled renders in P6 and not had a problem (hooray!). I remember the agony of trying to cancel a render in earlier versions, though, ugh. Normally what I'd do with those is actually shut down the program from the outside using Task Manager. Rather heavy handed, unfortunately... bonni
