Subject: Render size vs preview window size

Acadia ( ) posted Wed, 08 March 2006 at 9:20 PM · edited Sat, 08 February 2025 at 3:13 AM

Is it possible to render larger than my preview window? I have my window set to 800x800, which is pretty much the maximum height for my laptop and still be able to see and use the tools. Sometimes I'd like to work in 800x800 but render the image larger than that IE: 1000x1000....is it possible?

Hi Acadia, What version of Poser are you using? In P6 you can change your render size to whatever you wish. If I remember correctly you can in P4 & P5 too. My preview wiindow is set to 1024 X 768 and I usually render to 1600 X 1200 or 2000 X 1500... If you're using P6 just change it by holding your cursor down on the little sideways arrow at the top left of the preview window and you'll access the render settings, the render dimensions etc. :) Gerard

Should be completely possible, I run 800x600 resolution, and Ive rendered 1024x768 and 800x1200 several times, all with no problems at all :) Just set the Render to New Window paramaters to whatever you need, and expect slightly longer render time.

The only snag with setting "Render to New Window" size larger than your Preview Window is that the resolution of any imported background images are resampled and limited to the Preview Window size, and thus may look pixelated in larger renders.

Change your Max Image Size in Render Settings to solve this. (I believe that is what you are saying is your problem.)
