Subject: gray background with lighting....while a specific area remains colored....

...is there anything like that in carrara?...the whole city model will be gray and zooming in to a specific area will then be colored (too many texture maps to be "playing with them)... think of the masking capabilities in 2d programs......

Spinners,

I did a tutorial about this using the Noir plug-in. You'll end up having to render in two passes. One for the mask to say where the color is retained, one for final render.
