Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 6:57 am)
I had a glitch with vue 5 i update 9 (see my post here on "fixing" it) but had to do with my needing to open the pz3 and RESAVE it, period, and then it imported fine... Also be sure you make your poser 6 options NOT to save the morphs separately! (the darn pmds') or vue will not bring in the morphs!
Life Requires Assembly and we all know how THAT goes!

I know this has been asked before, but I can't find the thread(s).
I have a scene that I created in P5, before I bought either P6 or Vue5i.
Just out of interest, I tried to import that scene into V5i. Only a small part of it got imported.
So I tried some methods to overcome the problem.
#1. Was that when I loaded the scene in P5, P5 wanted to know the location of some stuff.
So I went through the pz3 file in an editor and corrected all the references, starting from ":runtime".
That loaded in P5 fine. It also loaded in P6.
#2. I knew that my V5i was linked to P6. To get over this I tried 2 approaches: 1 was to point V5i (temporarily) at P5 as the "source" poser; 2 was to load the scene in P6 and re-save the scene (under a new name).
Neither approach worked (and yes, I'd reset V5i to point to P6 when I loaded that version.
#3. I re-investigated pz3 and realised that the relative paths (starting with "runtime") wouldn't work, because
many of the props (my own, made from Poser primatives) were referring to .obj files, whereas in the P6/runtime/geometries they are .obz files.
So I went through the pz3 file (again, sigh) and made absolutely everything into an absolute path (starting from E:, where my P5 is installed..)
Still no joy. Only part of the file imports:-(((
I'm not really too concerned at this point. I only wanted to do it to see if I could. I don't really like the scene anyway (although it might have some slight potential, with a lot of mucking about).
Just want to know what I didn't do right..:-))
Cheers,
Diolma
Just had a thought. It may be that in one of my PZ3 edits I typed "runtime" instead of "Runtime". Which would explain a lot of it. Oh, well, I'll try again tomorrow. Just for the hell of it...
