Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
Here’s just a few quick thoughts:
It’s very possible to get Poser figures to look “almost” photo realistic. It takes a keen eye for detail and the right add-on products. (Hair, clothes, etc.) Check out the Poser and Realism galleries here to see what is possible.
As far as your next software choice, I’d recommend Carrara 5 Pro over Bryce and Terragen any day of the week and twice on Sunday. It’s easy to use, affordable, and has great out-of-the box support for Poser files. C5 Pro also ships with a very powerful, fast, and stable rendering engine. Oh yeah; you can make some killer landscapes with it too!
Ultimately it comes down to what “feels” right to you and what your budget is.

Greetings all,
I've been taking classes for graphic arts and have become totally addicted...my credit card is proof of that. So far I've only taken classes for Poser 6 and UVMapper, but, the damage is done! LOL
My search for advice is for the next class I'm about to take...It's a choice between Bryce and Terragen. I'm going to take both, but, can only take one at the time.
Now I like Bryce because it meshes with Poser really well and the models look like they belong in the final product, and it also has a touch of really nice realism.
On the flip side, Terragen is just mind blowing with the realism you can achive with it, but, the Poser models look way out of place, unless you have the ultra hi res models to use...which I only have 2.
It seems to me that Bryce is an all around general builder...ie, rooms, buildings, objects and nature/world building. While Terragen is just that, a world builder. I haven't seen anything other then nature with Terragen, I guess the name gives it away.
I guess what I'm asking is, Is there a way to make Poser models look like they belong in Terragen? I'm so attracted to the realism that I'm leaning toward this first, but, I really would like to be able to put Poser into the scenes and have them look like it was all done together.
Personally, I think Terragen might be too much on the "looks too real" for Poser, if that's the case then I'll start with Bryce and play around Terragen until I take the class.
Any advice from those who have used or use these programs would be most helpful.
Thanks all,
