Subject: Browser Troubles? Firefox?

DJB ( ) posted Sun, 16 April 2006 at 6:01 AM · edited Wed, 31 July 2024 at 12:54 PM

I thought i had the latest update of Firefox 1.5. I guess the update never actually took place. OK it seems to have fixed the back button issue and the freezing up many were having troubles with. I went to the the Firefox Site and got the newst version. Then went to Program Files >Firefox and opened the uninstall folder and removed the program. Just as easy as going to Control Panel Add/Remove. Then reinstalled. Seems fine now. It saved all my favs, so obviously there was some file left kicing around. Only thing I lost was spell check plug in. But rather than install over top of other I removed it. Back to flying in here again... Crosses fingers.

One more thing of note.
If you cannot paste using right click, or copy using the mouse..click on the "source" button at top of message box.
You can use that to type anything....especially if you are trying to put a link using the html code.

I find that Firefox throws the odd wobblie now and then (don’t they all) lattest version is 1.5.0.2, and I’m not convinced that this is an improvement over 1.5.0.1 and it seems to cause a few issues on some sites that worked perfectly well before the update.

For my sins I still use IE for many sites as it seems more consistent.

Am i lucky that I didn't experience any trouble at all the last few years, since I'm using Mac OSX's standard Safari browser. I do have Firefox and IE, but never use them, as Safari seems to never have any problem. I love it!

For some reason my Mozilla doesn't want to go back (back button) anymore on this site. Other sites are no problem.

Back button is OK with FF 1.5 x, there seems to be an issue with FF 1.0 x

Also ok with IE and Opera, dont know about Mozilla.

You won't have the back button trouble if you get FF1.5
Least  my troubles went away with the new one.

Updated from 1.7.11 to 1.7.12 and the problems seems to have gone away for now :) Hadn't realized Mozilla was updated.

Edit: whoops spoke too soon. It seems the forum is stackup up entries in my history list. Just entering the forum right away (bookmark) going to this thread and posting a replies stacked 15 entries.

Can you try it again Marlene. This sure makes it easy again.

Hmm, so far upgrading to FF 1.5.0.2 seems to have solved all the problems I was having (the back button and problems on some other sites). Thanks for the tip.

Not sure why it didn't tell me I had updates available. I was on 1.0.x still and it was saying no new version available. Odd.

Geert, I use Safari for most of my web browsing as well and don't usually have any problems either, though some do crop up occasionally. The annoying issue I'm dealing with right now is that my 'returns' are not being recognized in these message boxes and I have to manually type < BR > (no spaces) to get a return. It was fine when the first changed the forum and I haven't updated my browser since then so I can only assume it was something they did in the backroom and will fix it soon. Otherwise -- running smoothly! 😁 --update: Hrmmm. they seemed to work in this message...strange that it isn't consistent.

Look what the forum did to my history list when just entering this topic, pressing back once and pressing forward once. There should be 2 entries (1 forum - bookmark -, 1 entering this topic)

I'd like to stress that I have no problems on other fora.

Could the reply box be enlarged? Now it's only slightly bigger than half the width of the forum. Why not  make it the entire width? I found it very cramped when starting a new topic where I show some pictures. Although the pictures are only 600x400 they fill the entire box. The view source box is way bigger.

You should have seen how small the reply box was in testing. I have a feeling this is it now.
But....I am taking all these queries to the PHP Conversion Report Thread staff has.

Ok thanks.  That's all I can ask for :) When just replying it's allright. Just when inserting a photo it becomes unusable.
