Congratulations! Not just on having (probably) the longest-lasting
Poser site, but one of the most enduring sites on the Web in general!
Very few websites from '96 are still around.

First, I'd like to make a point of not making this post a commercial advertisement for my website, so I will leave out any names or links. But I just wanted to share with you all that my Poser site featuring a certain "erotic superheroine" is celebrating it's 10 year anniversary on the web this month. The first couple of years it was a free site, but after that it's been a pay/membership site ever since. A fact that I'm very proud of.
In these days of "real" 3D artists looking down at us Poser artists (saying that what we create is not real art) it's nice to be able to create something a little different (not just Poser-out-of-the-box) and have people respond to it in a very positive way.
I definitely can't quit my day job and live off the earnings from my site, but the extra five or six hundred dollars a month really helps pay the cost of bandwidth, pay some bills and gives me a little extra for my time and effort.
The secret to my sucess? I found a niche market and have always tried to make my renders look as Un-Poserlike as possible. A good storyline and writing helps too.
So I just thought I'd share my little success story for those people just starting out with Poser and wondering what the hell you want to do with it. I've also managed to land a few "clean" jobs along the way too. Another one I'm proud of is a published book and multimedia material for the "Sign With Your Baby" - "Sign2Me" project from NorthLight Communications. Where I used several different Poser characters demonstrating sign language for babies.
So besides going the merchant route, there are still plenty of opportunities out there to make some money with Poser. But I still like it as a hobby too, just to play with my dollies!
