THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: What tutorials do you find useful or wish you could find?

jelisa ( ) posted Mon, 01 May 2006 at 10:12 PM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 5:10 AM

What kind of Bryce tutorials do you find useful, as either a beginning, intermediate, or expert Brycer?

What tutorials do you wish were available?

What tutorials do you wish you could have found/had when you were just starting with Bryce?

Please be specific in your answers, for example, terrain tutorials can cover all kinds of things, from sculpting to rivers/paths to importing pictures.

Thanks in advance,
darlisa

everything!
need on underwater tutorials, creating waves and splashes. can never get that right.
importing from various formats...
editing mats - like what is the ABCD thinggies for.. we get into it..and woah... 4 different screens appear with different strange looking textures
lighting tuts..
working with HDRI's
printing issues..rendering for print - i see a lot of brycers still confused
then what are raysand passes, and how does actual rendering work... dunno if that's a tutorial..or an explanation of rendering - but it will help a lot of pple to understand what bryce is all about...
and yadda yadda yadda :woot:

The tutorials and forum postings are usually quite informative and plentiful, however I remember learning more intensly  from sample files on the bryce disc and files made available from other members.

Maybe sets of Tuts accompanied with sample files.

(@ Flak: maybe some tuts on how to get 40 billion brigands into one scene) YeeHaw!!

ICM - I've already got one of those at DAZ and I'll probably put a copy of it on my website soon... when I can work out what I want my website to look like........ when I can think of a new look...... lol

Attached Link: BRYCETECH TUTORIALS

The tutorials over on BRYCETECH are awsome - especially the one on multiple suns / moons.

Also Jelisa - I like your name. It sounds like something that you spread on crackers.

We need more tutorials on things like city lighting in night time scenes - doing storms - explosions - duststorms and blizzards, floods, as a matter of fact - somebody ought to start a web page called "BRYCE APOCOLYPSE" - and have all of thiose awsome cool dramatic effects explained!

NOW LEAVE ME ALONE AND LET ME SUCK MY TOE IN PEACE ALREADY!!!!!

I'd really like a tutorial on a waterfall, not the Van Lippe waterfall where it's cascading down a flight or steps - great though that is.

No, I want to know how to do a vast high waterfall, falling down a mountain with mists at the bottom where it falls into a deep pool/lake.  I managed something that might pass at a distance but I WANT something that'll look good at a distance AND close-up.

Specific enough?  ggg

Oh and anything on doing things deliberately in the DTE, lots and lots of DTE tutorials, like how to do:
techno mats for sci-fi buildings - better than the ones in the presets!

decent sci-fi metals for spaceships

rock - wet at the bottom and dry on the top - having great problems with this although there's a Robin Wood tut on this - it doesn't work properly in 5.5c

Um... I'll think of some more later

Oh, and those different types of terrain tutorials you mentioned?  Want all of those!!!

another thing that's scary is I download every screen cap of Bryce settings, and keep those around as well. And someday I'll start using them..;)

There was some video on Bryce on one of those 3d mags (someone with a Southern accent...like I should talk..;) that went over a lot of the basics.

I've just written a tutorial for making flowing (animated) streams and rivers in Bryce and Carrara5. Would Daz pay, or give a voucher for a well-written and illustrated tutorial? The same method works well for lava and mudflows, and waterfalls as well. The Carrara5 version of the tut shows the benefits of owning Bryce as well as Carrara, and how the two apps can compliment each other's strengths.

jelisa ( ) posted Wed, 03 May 2006 at 2:32 PM

You can submit the tutorial to DAZ Arcana. If accepted, I believe you get a voucher.

Thank you Jelisa.

Quote - editing mats - like what is the ABCD thinggies for.. we get into it..and woah... 4 different screens appear with different strange looking textures

Please do a search on my name here. You'll find a mini tut on mixing textures using ABC channels. ricky also joined in. I won't pretend I understand DTE, but if it's about image textures, just ask.
