Subject: Why is IK jumpy? And other tips/tutorials for animation?

Hi, I am a novice with Poser, but I'd like to learn to do decent animation with it.  I see short films like "Same Difference" by Greg Katsoulis and the works of others, and I know it is possible.  But there are some basic things that keep sabotaging my efforts.  IK is chief among them, because it seems like an almost essential tool and potentially very time-saving, but every time I use it, it introduces little jumpy/jerky movements into the animation for whichever limb is being held fixed.  And this happens even when I've only made slight movements with the rest of the body.  Is there a way to avoid this jerky side-effect when using IK?

And as long as I'm asking, can anyone point me to some good tutorials for improving animation skills with Poser in general?

Thanks a lot!

If you use IK , lets say for the feet, Then if you move the hip the feet will not move, instead the legs will bend or twist.

You simply have to be very careful in positioning the figure.

Also be aware that the default spline interpolation, can result in movements that you dont really want. So you may need to use a straight or break curve.
