Actually, in Arabic, the word for beauty, 'Gjamel'. is derived from the word for camel, 'Gjamal'.  For them, the camel is an animal of great beauty and perfection.  My wife, who was born in the Jewish community of Aleppo, Syria, and immigrated to Israel at the age of six, has always likened gorgeous eyelashes to those of a camel.
Desert Sheiks, pride themselves on the number, strength, stamina, and speed of their camels, much like we in the west do with sports cars.

Hmm... I don't think I've ever been in close proximity to a camel. My parents rode them in Morocco, though. They thought it was jolly fun. Took some good hump-back photos of their camel train riding into the sunset.

Just goes to to show that the old cliche "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" really does have meaning. I suspect that NCIATWAS (Naked Camel In A Tent With Awful Spit) wouldn't get very quickly into the top 20...

Cheers,
