Subject: Answering Questions - lots of pics and stuff

Ok .. I've had a few e-mails, questions and requests in the last couple of weeks generated by my gallery posts so I figured I'd answer them all in one thread (didn't want to spread this out and have 4 or 5 posts going at once).

Lets see how this works ...

First, there was a question on this photo from the gallery:

The observation/question was that I said it was shot with on-camera flash, but looking at all the light on her body, how could that be?

This is a real pool table.  Above it, just out of the frame, is a large shrouded light (think it is a Miller Genuine Draft light).  The shroud causes the light to focus mainly on the tabletop and drop off very quickly past the edges of the table.  I dialed my flash down a bit to act as a fill to bring her face out of shadow while dragging the shutter to pick up that nice ambient light on her body.  Flash and ambient were balanced to pull it all together.

Next, someone asked to see the 32" Chinese Shortsword I mentioned in the Lucy image.  This was taken moments after she finally stopped giggling:

Had an e-mail asking about other shots with Mimi in them.  Should have some stuff coming up later.  Until then, here are some I probably won't post because of the holiday nature of them and it being Spring and all. :)

These were taken as part of a series of X-mas classic pinup photos.  The dress is a vintage red velvet Miss Claus dress that fit her to a tee.

And Finally ... there's the shot I posted titled "Apnea".  For all those that wondered, that is actually her name and not a description of how she leaves people breathless.   :)

Donald

you ALWAYS impress with the images you capture....expressive and beautiful!...with an added EDGE to some!  (pardon the pun)

for some reason can't see the first image posted

Lucy has a somewhat sinister look holding that short sword.

Mimi looks great in the XMAS getup....although I feel she gets a bit lost in the red on red velvet shots.  The one of her with the white background is quite an eye catcher!  Very Classy style (imho)

Apnea...well...the lighting, color and the EYES....just draw ya in!

thx for the added info!

I am left breathless. From pool tables to giggling short sword holders to a sexy Miss Claus, all excellent photos. Thanks for sharing them!

As always Donald your work is gorgeous!  I have visited your site a few times..  I have also been following your posts here for a few years now and you never disappoint me.  My favorite shots here are the first, the lighting is what drew me in.  And of course the last one here, up close and personal with Apnea is awesome.  Keep em coming!
