Im seriously considering moving to the linux distro called Ubuntu and Im wondering if anyone else uses the Windows version of Poser in Wine Ubuntu.

For those who dont know Wine is an emulator type applaication that allows some windows programs to run under linux.

Anywho just wondering if anyone else does it like that and if so are there any helpful tips you can give me.

  1. You think Poser is slow now !!  Imagine it running in an OS emulation. ;)

  2. From what I've read, 3D support is not very good in emulation - probably D3D or OpenGL.  That means that Poser 6 OGL will probably be useless - actually it crashes (go to link for Poser 6 at link below).

I suggest this link: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?appId=115

All in all, you could probably work with Poser 4 PP, maybe Poser 5.  For Poser 5, you're going to need a 6GHz system with 10TB memory !! ;)  I have a Dual Xeon with 4GB on Win XP Pro NTFS w/ 1/2 TB of storage, GeForceFX 5900 Ultra - and Poser 5 and 6 are still slow - get the point?

Good luck...
