Title says it all. P4NudeWoman char of mine suddenly needing serious medieval footware. Soft, dress-gown complimenting, wealthy/royalty quality garment, youse get the idea.

Is there something already in my default P4 clothing close enough to bite me? Is there a freebie or retail item, posette conformer footware anyone can enlighten me about? A killer mapset to transform an existing classic item perhaps?

All good suggestions appreciated, dont mind doing a bit of work with hand applied maps, etc - just interested in rolling up my sleeves and getting results!

Thanks for reading :)

I've seen some interesting results achieved with the P4 Formal Dress simply by retexturing, ie once I saw it transformed from a contemporary gown into something Victorian simply by applying a heavily brocaded texture to it.  Surely something similar could be done with the low-heeled slippers-shoes.
This si my suggestion, which of course can be either adopted or rejected.
However, if you want something with pointed upturned toes, you might try experimenting with magnets rather than looking for a whole new model.  Then, you'll not only have achieved some greater versatility with a known item, but with one specifically designed for Posette's foot.
Yours truly,
David P. Hoadley

Nah not really interested in the fairy/gnome style of upturned shoe. I never really think of that as elven cause I think of elves in the noble Tolkien sense, no so much as the carefree style of Santa's elves.

Very good suggestion, the dress shoe can be textured to a pretty close imitation of what I want but the hard pointed toe and partial heel still create an uncomfortably modern design to work within.

Im really hoping for something that was modelled from the ground up to be a soft-soled slipper. If anyone knows of an old redistributable posette-forever or similar freebie, lemme in on it!

Thanks for the dress shoe suggestion, thats something to at least work with for medium to long distance shots and not have to settle for barefoot posettes :)

Made from reworked Posette socks. I added a thin sole and reshaped/cut the geometry in Wings so that they look like they were made from leather.

They are not properly UV-mapped, but just have two material zones. So if you want to use a standard texture, you´ll have to remap them.

There is a site dedicated to Posette.  I haven't looked through it, but you might find something there.

Whin I suggested upturned toes, I wasn't thinking of Elves, or Tolkein, or Santa Clause.  But rather medieval court jester, of a figure out of Howard Pyle's 'Men of Iron.' Here is a render of the dress shoe, with a silk cloth texture appliad to its material group, and bumped with Svdl's rope/sailcloth texture (from his freebie sailboat).  Somthing like this MIGHT be what you have to settle for.  Of course, with UV Mapper to create a template, maybe you could get somthing that can be more highly detailed, (ie with stitching, embroidery, etc). how about the "Evil Queen" dress for Judy?  It's free at AprilYSH's site in the 3D freebie's.

And while you are there you can pick up the "P4VSkin", which allows the Nude P4 female to use Vicky 1/2 textures.

Stahl, those look GREAT!!!

Could I trouble you for a copy of those please?

logansfury ( ) posted Tue, 20 June 2006 at 11:05 PM

Just home from work.

Stahl: slippers downloaded, about to play with them inworld, thank you so much :)

Acadia, yep Im a regular visitor at posette-forever, ill give a quick search there as theres never too many items for a runtime.

David, that texture looks very good! Nice choice. For the soft cloth style shoe though, its looking like Stahl has really come thru.

How difficult was that conversion in Wings3d? ive only used the app once. If its not too dificult I should get off my butt and see about doing some conversions of the socks myself as a learning experience!

I'd like to download the socks too, where can I find the link.
Logan, the socks are fine for your main character, but I'd still suggest that you incorporate the dress shoes for some of your secondary characters, otherwise everybody's going to be running around in the same style shoes, which is patently ridiculous.
