Blender F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 28 1:01 pm)
I have seen this problem before, and I don't know a perfect fix for it. I had to apply the texture myself. I can go through the steps of applying the texture, but you may already know all this.
Select the object (RMB) and press F6 to get the texture controls. Click the Add New button in the Texture Panel. Then you will be able to choose a Texture Type. In the drop down choose Image.
Two new panels will appear. In the Image panel, click the Load Image button and select the texture.
Go back to the Material buttons (F5). In the Map Input tab (far right), change it from Orco to UV.
Now you should be set. I will do some searching around about the problem. Version 2.42 will be out in a week or two and it might be fixed then.
If this does not help at all, maybe you could make the .blend or .obj available to me I would be happy to help, or maybe someone else will post a better way to fix the problem :)
The "missing" JPGs must be referred to in a MTL that came with the OBJ your trying to load.
Some solutions
Thank you. It just needed the full path name apparently.
I read somewhere that Blender limits the number of textures you can import.
Finally got the model itself on the screen though, no textures displayed, but I just need to check around the options for that. The thing locked up when I clicked "game" or something, thinking it'd show me the 3d model... just curious what that button did really. Oh well. I should figure out the rest.
Thanks to both of you for your response.
game is to play games, full games can be made in blender and played by pushing the game button, games can also be exported as standalone.exe
for
some free stuff i made
and
for almost daily fotos

I searched around on this forum yesterday, but couldn't find any specific information.
I have Blender 2.4.
I try to import an .obj and I get the error that it can't find various files associated with it, despite the fact they are clearly in the directories mentioned.
It says
Attempting to load maps/nameoffile.jpg
Image not found in any of the dirs, doing a recusrive search.
And yes, it misspells recursive like that.
What options do I click on? Some of them cause other errors if I select them before attempting to import.
