Subject: OT: To anyone using AT&T or SBC

This is semi-related to Renderosity in that my recent withdrawal of my free stuff was related to the privacy policies (or lack thereof) of AT&T, my former ISP.  A recent news item has reported that AT&T’s new privacy policy claims that the company owns its customers. account and can share it with government agencies. Under the new policy, AT&T will collect customers' user names, passwords, charges, payments, and online purchases. It will also track their activity while on sites that AT&T operates in a partnership with Yahoo. The changes come as AT&T is embroiled in a lawsuit brought by the Electronic Frontier Foundation over the company’s involvement in the NSA spy program.

I am providing this information for anyone using AT&T or SBC (which are more or less the same company) in the event that you have not been made aware of these changes.

it seems that they've been sharing them with other businesses for years (heard a radio report last night on the news). Actually many of the companies have. Some detectives actually call up and get the info by faking reasons, etc. Just have to be careful what ya say...

As much as I dispise him I never make presidential threats so why should I worry? I don't even own a weapon! Come and take me away! I'm a threat to humanity! Sheesh! Stick that in your spyin' ears CIA, FBI or whomever's listening! Like anything I say online is that important. Feh!

PS, I'm sure that post just put me on someone's list somewhere. To that I say, join the crowd. I'm already on so many lists from spammer's, what's one more?

I reckon those "al qaeda" wannabees in Liberty City are wishing they hadn't used their ATT (SBC) account right now  but seriously, what ATT is trying to do is force new and old subscribers to agree to a document which gives ATT the right to sell or distribute their data in any way they like. in a humane democracy where privacy rights are respected, this would never be allowed by any court or legislative body, but unfortunately ATT operates in a jurisdiction where corporate desires are paramount, and individual rights are considered an inconvenience.

But Mizrael.. you ARE definately a threat to some people's view of what is normal and wholesome and all that ROFL

THAT alone has probably landed you on a lot of lists G

Hmm.. Apart from all the V1Agr@ spammers, I'm not sure I WANT to know what kind of lists I'm on ...

Now where's my tinfoil hat?! O_o

ATT sent me an opt out form as far as the sharing of my information.  I would have thought all of their users got one as well.  Anyway, MCI contacted me some time ago and knew that I was in the Southwest frequent flyer program.  There's not a company out there that doesn't share some information with their partners.  The only way to stay off the list is to drop out.  Drop way, way, out.

This is the information age.  Get used to it or get ready to move to the remote wilderness somewhere in Alaska.

Best Wishes,
Rªnce
