Subject: Trivial, but sometimes confusing problem. Just reporting..

Recently I posted a reply in a forum. Then I edited it. Then I decided I didn't need to reply, and so deleted it altogether.

But when I got back to the main forums page, it still said that the latest reply was by me. I refreshed, but still got the same result.

So it seems that if I delete a reply, then my nick will stay as the "latest reply by" even though it's no longer in the thread, until somebody else replies (and thus becomes the "latest reply by").

Like I said, trivial, but confusing if you enter a thread looking for a reply by someone who's opinion you respect (I don't count myself in that category), and it's not there - 'cos they deleted it....

Just a "heads up" to the programmers - if someone deletes their reply and they're still at the head of the list in the database, then there needs to be a roll-back (I expect to see this minor glitch resolved sometime in 2010)....

Cheers,
Diolma

Lol or never. That would require us scanning the entire forum to see who was the last person to reply and at what time they did, etc. At that point, it's simply too expensive (resourse-wise) to try to change who the last poster is. If someone deleted, they're just out of luck. It'll still say they were the last to reply 😄. N

Ahh.. I thought that something like that might be the case:-))
Oh well - next time I'll just edit my reply to say "I've just deleted the entire content of this reply"

Cheers,
Diolma

I'm sorry, but this is inexcusable.  I would like my membership fees returned to me in full.

Thanks!

It's always been like that, even on the old forums.

"It is good to see ourselves as others see us. Try as we may, we are never
able to know ourselves fully as we are, especially the evil side of us.
This we can do only if we are not angry with our critics but will take in good
heart whatever they might have to say." - Ghandi
