Subject: 'browse' on top of page

koosievantutte ( ) posted Fri, 30 June 2006 at 2:05 AM · edited Wed, 06 November 2024 at 5:23 PM

when i click this i go to page 2 at once. would it not be better to put it at the end of page one? now i have to scroll down and scroll back to go to the next pages or i never see page one. 😄

We put this in place because many people were requesting it to be this way. N

😕 - 😄
i cannot imagine that - why do you start on page two when you have not seen page one? or why would you look at page one, scroll back to top and push 'browse' to go to page two.
i can imagine that when you hit browse you first see page one and that when you are at the bottom you can go to page 2 and so on and i think that is what people meant.

Nicholas, please see this post. This may be the problem koosievantutte  is talking about. It appears the system is leaving out images when moving from the main gallery page via the Browse link.

It's all fun and games...

yes, that's right - and the solution i so simple: re[place 'browse' by 1|2|3|....' like all other pages and the problem is solved 😄

Thanks I will talk with the programmers about this.

I can't help but feel sorry for the programmers (and smile).   They spent all this time creating a nice new first gallery page for us, with most recent, most viewed, most commented pictures and we've been chipping away, bit by bit until we get it to be exactly how it used to be.  ie.  page 1 of the gallery.

Nothing at all. What's wrong and kind of stupid is having a first page with the browse button on top and not at the bottom or both places. You have to scrool down to see the images, then have to scroll back to the top to go to the 2nd page while the 2nd page and every other page thereafter has the page transitions at both the top AND bottom.

Page 1 needs that as well.

that was exactly my point. 😄
part of my original message seems to have disappeared 😕

That's not exactly what they requested.  People couldn't see the point of going from the recently added to page 1.  You've now set it to go from recently added to page 2, but if the recently added wasn't showing everything then it's not helping.   What they (IMHO) requested was no recently added page and to just start on the complete page 1.

I think my sarcasm may have been lost.   I totally agree that we should start browsing on a complete page one.  Anything else is a little bit silly.

Common sence is lost on alot of people. They just can't seem to understand it. When a website has it's visitors scrolling back and forth to get to a common location, it's totally redundant.

Websites and webmasters should consider the visitor. There are many people coming here that have physical disabilities or handicaps. What's happening here is making it hard on them and that isn't right. Also, many people don't like a difficult site that is difficult to navigate or find what they are looking for. Rosity isn't one of the sites that is easy to navigate, at least not now...too many mouse clicks, too much scrolling up and down, etc.

come on, let's keep it in perspective, it's not such a big deal, just a little annoyance.
