Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 29 1:40 pm)
if by "2000k polys", you mean 2 millions of polygons, then it's gonna be a big strain on poser to have more than one of 'em in a scene that includes alotta props and detailed building elements. however, poser comes with a set of "normal people" already encased in non-detachable "normal clothing". these are low-res figures, just the kind one would use in an architectural rendering, where the focus is on the fine details of the building, rather than on the facial expressions and musculature of the "walk-on" characters.
Poser does come with figures with "normal" clothes. if you want a large variety you will need to get the DAZ3d figures, if you want to clothe the daz figures for the best price, you should probably go with a Poserworld subscription.

I'm not too sure I'd classify most of the listed clothes as normal, unless you're looking for eyepopping boob pictures, and so forth. or maybe I live in a more conservative area of the world.
In fact, imo, which is seldom listened too, most of the clothes around the poser sites are far from "normal", unless you see a lot of prostitutes wearing their underwear on the outside, in your town,...or maybe a lot of fantasy babes ...well, maybe on alloween.

What about the preclothed charaters in the People folder in the Figure's Library. They look pretty avarage to me. I myself have remapped the Casual Man and the Casual Woman to accept standard Posette and Dork skin textures (for Head, Shoulders, Forearms, and Instep (on Casual woman). If you like, I can send you my copies, just email me: dph@013.net.il

If you're looking for background people then you could check out AZL's crowd kit in the market place here. There are a number of normally clothed people plus add on packs at a very reasonable price.
The could thing about the AZL kit is that it uses a system like a "billboard". These face the camera at all times so that when rendered they look solid and normal and they come in various poses and males, females so there is variation. The really good thing is that they are really low poly counts because they're not solid poser people so you can literally have loads in a scene with very little resource taken up.
Remember though these are low poly. low res so you couldn't use them in the foreground!
What I do is 2 or 3 proper poser people at the front and the AZL crowd kit at the back, Voila!!!!!
Injustice will be avenged.

are there normal outfits and clothing for models? Yes there are. If you do this for a living, a subscription to PoserWorld will be invaluable for everyday things; and possibly all you'll need. There are some free sites as well. ;) > [I] am in need of some higher poly, more realistic people than what is usually the norm (2000k polys per character usually). Victoria 3 is about 70,000 polys. That enough for you? :) > Would Poser do this well? Yes, realistic people is what it's all about. The latest versions have dynamic cloth so the clothing can be as realistic as the figures, if that's what you need. > Where are some good sites I can brush up on general Poser usage? There are some good tutorial sites, but it's hard to know what to recommend to someone who hasn't actually used Poser. Most tutorials concentrate on one particular aspect. Doctor Geep is the acknowledged master of all things tutorial related. As an aside, and I realise I'm poking my nose into something I know nothing about... I thought the artificial look of the figures in architectural visualisations was a deliberate choice, so the people didn't distract from the building? Are you sure you want near-photorealistic people getting in the way?
Well, I'm looking for high poly for foreground and middle-level poly for in the background. Sometimes I client requests people up close and the low poly people I have (FormFonts.Com) simply do not stand up to the camera.
So thusly, I want to try poser. I need real basic though...men in suits, t-shirt& shorts, walking, sitting, reading, ect. I feel if I spent some time (and money) in Poser or DAZ, I'd be able to do this.
And no, no scantily clad women, bikinis, busts, leather, anything like that. I'll do some research. Thanks a TON everyone for your help on this and anything additional you could add would be appreciated.

Hey guys,
Never used Poser before and just want to ask a general question. With Poser, I see a lot of fantasy work...but are there normal outfits and clothing for models?
The reason I ask is I do Architectural Visualization...and am in need of some higher poly, more realistic people than what is usually the norm (2000k polys per character usually). I'm looking to distance from the competition with some of my little extras.
Would Poser do this well? Where are some good sites I can brush up on general Poser usage?
Thanks TONS in advance.
