Well, there's Wings3d, a free modelling program that's not too hard to get into.
Hexagon's also nice, but costs about the same as P6.
The best piece of advice is always to check out demos of various modelling programs, and pick the one that you understand how to use the easiest, and won't drain too much out of your wallet.

hi all!
it's time for me to invest in a program that will help to create clothing. can you all please chime in on the pro's and con's of whats out there now or suggest something new?
i have poser 6 and am wanting to create my own flowing robes, belts, shoulder harness's, sheath's and the like.
