Subject: AC3D - a newbie to this forum asks a couple of questions..

diolma ( ) posted Sun, 23 July 2006 at 5:12 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 12:46 PM

Hi all.

I've been using AC3D for few years now, and have only just been pointed at this forum as a possible venue for asking questions and/or providing answers for stuff relating to this app.

So:
Since there's no dedicated AC3D forum here, am I in the right forum for this?
Is there any interest in this app? (I find it rather good at doing simple stuff without getting bogged down in the complexities of the more advanced apps.)

(A "couple of questions" strictly means that I should only ask 2, but here's a third...)

Anyone else got AC3D v6, with greebles added??? Only just tinkered with them, but I'm tickled pink with some of the results you can get using just a few clicks:-))

Cheers,
Diolma

Please excuse me for flaunting my ignorance, yet again... but, I've never even heard of AC3D.

Can you please post a link for us to have a look at this application. It would also be nice if you could do a screen grab of the main user interface screen just to show us what it looks like.

Thank you!

Cheers! — Möe

I have heard of ac3d, but truth be said, I have not meddled with it for some years now. But I am sure somebody out there must have. And anyway, you are sparking interest, so probably there will be more ac3d  users thanks to this post

See the above link...

AC3D is a shareware 3D modeller by Invis.

It's fairly basic, but it can make a good stab at most things. And that's one of its advantages. It's easy to learn. And being shareware, fairly cheap. Oh, and it comes complete with a (PDF) manual.
It's probably best used for making simple, non-biological things, but that might be my own fault - I've never really tried to make a biological model.

My own main uses for it are for whipping up simple props for Poser and/or Vue, and for creating/modifying dynamic clothing.

One thing it cannot do is create morph-targets for Poser - it changes the vertex order.

Cheers
