Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 25 12:38 pm)
Just curious, did you download the 7 day free trial?
Also, I have to wonder when this page was put up... later which week?
Interesting... A Ferengi Human hybrid! Looks like you could definitely get away from the usual body types.
I might have to check this out.
Thanks for the link

I wonder if anyone else has seen this, and if so, what you think. This is a new piece of software which lets you build humanoid characters by selecting their characteristics from pre-built 'ancestors'. These are saved in a proprietary format file, but you can then send this file to the software producer and they will generate a mesh for you.The cost of the basic program is $39, and each character which you want built into a mesh will cost you an extra $49. Of course, you still have to texture and rig it, but it seemed to me that it had the potential to hugely increase the range of figures available for Poser.
The main problem I can see is that the meshes are produced either in Maya or FBX format, which is not much use to Poser, but there is a free FBX to obj converter on the Autodesk site.
The software is not quite ready for purchase yet (they say 'later this week' on the site, which doesn't give them much time) but it seems quite reasonably priced for what it claims to do. Big issue of course will be the quality of the mesh and unfortunately there are no samples to download. There's a nice gallery of examples, though.
