Just got CS2 as a gift.  And I have two questions:

What are PSD`s

and how do i use them in CS2.

Any help or leads to tutorials will be greatly appreciated.

PSD = Photoshop Document

They're the native files that Photoshop creates and uses.

.psd files are great because they allow you to work in layers and save those layers and all the information to open again at a later time.

PSD files are generally a layered file that is proprietary to Adobe PhotoShop. However, this file format has become so popular over recent years, that many other graphic software programs (newer versions) have programmed their software to be compatible with this file format, like Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7+ and Ulead PhotoImpact 7+. Got this from a yahoo search on 'what is psd'. Using them in CS2 would be nothing more than opening them and start working on them... Hope I got this right. Your question is kinda vague, so forgive me if I'm waaaaaaay of topic here... Grtz

A good place to start to get to know the program is by experimenting and reading through the manual. When experimenting, hit the F1 key to get the online help.

Also, there are some great tutorials at Adobe.com in the tutorial section.  That's how I started when I got PS 7
