Subject: Help!!! P5 Renders Plump When You Cook'em

I am trying to get some renders done for a client, but Poser 5 is driving me crazy.

 Problems:

  1. Poser 5 Firefly renders keep doing a weird ballooning of geometry whenever I do any render above a default draft render. Do I need a patch? Do I need to change settings? Anything to get it to stop super-sizing my geometry.
  2. Why oh why can’t I get anything to cast a shadow on the ground?

You have my solemn and humble gratitude if you can help me with these issues.

ok , the balloniing problem is a smoothing issue in firefly.

select the item in question and turn smoothing off in the object properties.

The shadows is harder.

  1. ensure lights are set to cast shadows.
  2. make sure shadows are enabled in render options.
  3. make sure your shadow map is large enough and that your shadow camera is only covering the part of the scene being rendered.

Thank you, markschum. The smoothing thing fixed the ballooning right up. I'm still sorting out the shadow, but I think I can nail it down (Lol, like Peter's shadow). Before long I should have a charming dingy detective's office, complete with a gun and a pretty lady.
