Subject: Can't buy a Gift certificate for Myself????

AGentleMuse ( ) posted Sun, 06 August 2006 at 4:15 PM · edited Thu, 26 December 2024 at 10:02 PM

Occasionally I have a bit of spare cash and even more occasionally the exchange rate is in my favour at which point I like to purchase GC's not just here but everywhere I shop. Why? I'm thinking of the future, when I have no spare cash and the exchange rate is down there in the doldrums and paypal still wants to charge me 5% to convert it to dollars :o( and something comes into the MP that I just have to have ;o)

So today I had all the above positives, went off to purchase me a little gift certificate of $50 and........ find I can't buy myself one, as I'm not 'allowed to by 'Rosity rules'......

So my questions are:

  1. Is this a 'glitch' in the system?.....which is

  2. Inimently due to be fixed? or......

  3. Is 'Rosity making so much money that they are dismissive of taking $50 from a customer/potential customer?

  4. If none of the above apply is there another way to do this?

and.........

  1. If not, why not? LOL

Thanks in advance for your time and help!!

Jen :o)

Hi Jen, You should be able to do this without any problems.

What happens when you hit the "Add to Cart" button for the Gift Certificate? Any errors??

Hi Clint,

Well I didn't do it that way, (without putting my name in the 'Gift for' box,) because last time  I got a GC (a while ago) for me, I couldnt find it or how to claim it, and when I asked, I was told  I should have put my name in the 'GC' 'for box' so this time I was being very 'aware' hahaha, but now looking at it again I see it says 'leave blank if purchasing for your self', so I've wasted your time, once again :o(  ( So sorry!!!!!) Ok off to try and spend some money again hehehe!!

Thanks Jen :o)

Yep, paid for the GC, got the 'paperwork' got no Gift Certificate' and I guess it was at this time, last time that I asked where to find it ect and was told I shoulda put my name in the 'Gift for' box, so help for now please and for the future to save us all going through it again.

Sorry - Looks like we had some misscommunication.

I was just asking if you had any errors..You do have to purchase it as a "Gift" for yourself.

I've corrected the order - Your all set.  👍

Thanks for sorting it Clint!!

If you try to purchase a Gift Certificate by typing your name into the box you get this message:

'Sorry - you cannot purchase gifts for yourself.'

so in other words the only way to purchase a gift certificate for oneself at the moment is to leave the gift space blank, add to cart, pay for and then come here and ask one of you to allocate it to us.

Hoping this explains it better,

Jen :o)
