Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
Some people had problems with Quicktime. Do you have that installed?

say." - Ghandi
Hey, thanks, those are good suggestions. Apparently it wasn't all Quicktime, as now after its removal, Poser just H A N G S upon using file menu.
I keep it pretty clean as a rule - been there before with the systems problems of various stripes. I smell a reformat coming on. In fact, when I get up later today, that is what I'm going to do. I actually just got a small PAYING Poser assignment and - well, I guess the universe likes to keep you on an even keel, LOL!
I'll take any suggestions anyone else has, by the way, but a reformat is coming down the pike, up the road, certainly this way, which has been known to solve previous problems.
Thanks again!
And it does go to the desktop!
Yes, I got it fixed. Thank you, Acadia, for replying and asking. Thanks also to richardson and Khai for their great suggestions.
I reformatted and reinstalled all - I used to hate this kind of thing but some years back bit the bullet and now do it freely. (Backup is the best thing since sliced bread). Poser 6 has been good to me, more so than other versions with the possible exception of Propack - "good" meaning more satisfaction with the end results, possibly from years of using the still great but now apparently passe "Imagine" and getting all different kinds of looks, which P6 can certainly deliver.
Thanks again.

Okay, I've been using Poser 6 for quite some months now. I'm not a newbie - life or Poser.
Since yesterday a strange thing has been happening. Anytime I try to do anything with the Poser File menu , i.e., open, close, save, import, export, anything in that menu, the program shus down. No asking if I want to save or anything, just LIGHTS OUT - BAM! CLOSES LIKE A BEAR TRAP!. This does not happen with any of the other menus.
The first couple of times it happened was after setting up a scene using Rikishi. Rendered a couple of times to see how things looked, figured I'd better save, and when it happened I thought I had hit the wrong option, say "close" but I did notice that there was no "want to save" choice.
I was running SR2 but installed SR3, even went back to SR1 - the same thing is happening. Everything else seems to work fine, stuff like setting up scenes, using various shaders/materials, render options, etc., mats, morphs, etc., and these sequences and similarities are leading me to think it is perhaps my machine or some component thereof - (P4, GIG memory, big ass hard drive, etc., shared video but all I do is render in Poser these days) but everything else on this machine works like it ought to and has been.
Even just now I set up a nice scene with 2 Vic 3s, James, and a DNA Cyclodrop with a couple of other props, rendered nicely three or four times, but the first click on the Poser file menu - BAM! Gone in a flash!
Thoughts anyone?
Thanks.
