Subject: Virtual Fashion Demo - same as the Poser version?

MaterialForge ( ) posted Wed, 09 August 2006 at 6:27 PM · edited Fri, 02 August 2024 at 3:57 AM

I downloaded the demo for VF Basic from the VF site, and really like it. I'm just wondering if this is the same as the Poser version since e-frontier doesn't have a trial. Are these the same program? Does the purchase version have an export capability or some way to get the garments into Poser?

Thanks!

Pretty much.

They removed the poses, sets and make ups for the basic VF models, but added the ability to export creations for  James, Jessi and Mikki.  You don't need their virtual runway anyway, since you have Poser. I bought it after trying the demo and barely noticed a difference.

Thanks for the info. I like the ease of use with the demo, I just haven't figured out how to export a model. Is there an export button/function in the full version, or does it automatically associate to the Poser Runtime? I'm wanting to make some stuff for the P5 Don as well as the P6 characters, and it looks ideal.

In the full version, you enter the draping room, drape, and then export the result. It generates a separate VF runtime which you then load up in P6 as you did any others.

The draping does not transfer, so you have redo the settings in the cloth room. But if you drape first the little png VF generates looks prettier!😄

Don is not an included figure. I have successfully fitted Jessi outfits to V3 -- however it takes a lot of fiddling.

Hope this is helpful. There is a forum on runtime dna with lots of tips.

Have no worries re: exporting & having clothing appear in Poser. The demo comes from a different mindset where you could only share your creations using the online service they provided - a "Virutal Fashion" portfolio or show if you will. The Poser version has been modified and is very easy to use, provided you read the instructions for initially setting it up properly. The main thing that is missing from the Poser version is the ability to use image files to create new fabric patterns, but since there is the Material Room, that is a non-issue.

There are a few limited problems centering around how some patterns are cut and using its output on other fingures, but viable workarounds have been discovered and made public so there really is no reason not to take the plunge. It's fun, and pretty amazing what it can do with just a little thought and some taste (not that I lay any claim to the latter).
