Subject: V3 Head+Bodymorphs-changed Path-now errors!

factor ( ) posted Fri, 18 August 2006 at 5:56 AM · edited Mon, 29 July 2024 at 6:05 AM

Hi ya all!

I must admit...may be this was a mistake.

Because of the fact, that all the Head+Bodymorphs are in separate Folders (Expression, Muscularity etc) my Poselist in Poser is that long to scroll.

So i made ONE Mainfolder INSIDE "POSE", called that "ALL H+B-MORPHS-V3"

But when i now doubleclick...lets say... "all Headmorphs INJ" Poser searches a long time, and asks where the files are. This takes a long time then.

Has anybody a hint if i did something wrong?

AND: Can someone tell me if i can change the Path in a pz2-file then to correct this?

Many thanks!

Factor

As far as I understand you moved all the "!V3_inj" and "rem" files in the "Runtime: libraries: Pose:" folder. This shouldn't confuse Poser at all. Are you sure you didn't move the !DAZ folder that is in the "Runtime: libraries" folder (one level above the "Pose" and others)? There is no need to move this folder because it is not visible from inside the Poser anyway. Check this path and see if the !DAZ folder is there. Hope this helps.

Hey 4blueeyes....

Oh.... you got me wrong, or i did not decribed it right!!!!

No, No.....The DAZ-Folder you mean i never moved. It is still one level higher in the Libraries-Folder.

INSIDE the POSE-FOLDER.... i made ONE SINGLE Folder, to contain the:

!V3 All Morphs INJ, !V3 All Morphs REM, !V3 Chest-Breast INJ, !V3 Chest-Breast REM, !V3 Ear-Nose INJ, !V3 Ear-Nose REM.....and so on (These are only pz2,rsr+pngs).

All in all this are 26 Folders. That was the Reason why i made a single Folder to contain ALL THIS FOLDERS.

When i scrolled my Poselibrary which is huge anyway, it took me too long always with those 26 Folders...which i dont need THAT often.

The trouble is: Since those INJ+REMs are in this Folder....Poser always asks (for example) "please locate EarAnimal1.pz2"

May be i have to change a line inside the pz2s?????

Or do they have to stay explicit in the POSE-Libray, like it was when i installed them?

Thanks for careing

I had this same problem as you, factor.

Here's a link to a tutorial that might help you:

Moving those files around can be very confusing, lol.

Some people have this issue and some do not. I can't rename any or move DAZ inj/remove folders inside poser, or none of my head morphs work. This doesn't bother me, as I have everything catagorized by character and start my pose folders with !! (which pops them to the top) I don't know how other people do it. On the other hand, some people can stuff all those DAZ files into one folder and have no problem.

It sounds as if you have the original version of the morphs - this was fixed in SR1, so reset and redownload

elzoejam ( ) posted Fri, 18 August 2006 at 7:01 AM

Nope, I actually downloaded and re-installed a fresh version of V3, M3, D3, etc about 2 weeks ago. Unless they've updated since then, I am up to date :-) Still can't move em around or put them into folders, but like I said, it doesn't bother me. It could bother some people though.

Do you mean just V3, M3, D3 etc. or do you man the morphs too? If you're getting an error when you move the pose folders and you have the up-to-date set then contact DAZ - it shouldn't be doing that.

elzoejam ( ) posted Fri, 18 August 2006 at 7:10 AM

Figures and morphs, yep :-) I suppose I could contact them, but I have gotten used to it LOL.  I did ask in the forums there a while back, and they told me not to move the folders, so I don't. I think I am able to move the S3 and D3 morphs into folders, but I don't bother. And it's only head morphs I can't move for M3 and V3, body morphs move fine. Now I am curious, I think I'll go fiddle around. :-)

I just did some re-organising myself, and this is what I found with Poser 6 sr3:
It will find the deltas and what-not PZ2s in the !DAZ folders, referred to by the INJ PZ2s, even with multiple runtimes, provided I add those runtimes to my poser library.  But, Poser takes like, 20 minutes to find and inject them !

Solution which cuts the time shorter and works for me, is to copy the !DAZ folder into my libraries folder immediately under my Poser.exe file.

So, even though the INJ poses are in other runtimes flung across my hard drives (external and internal),  my Poser6 will find and read those PZ2s in under 5 minutes.

Well, maybe it works only for my case.  But I thought I'd share my experience with others.

Moving those folders into a single folder like you did causes lots of problems.  Poser looks to the original path for those files, so if you move them whenever you inject morphs of any kind, even from character addon packages, you will be asked to locate each individual file.

It's better if you create sub folders for other items in that folder and leave the DAZ morph and MAT folders in their original location.

I use multiple runtimes and here is an example of how i manage my character addons.  Using one runtime is the same principal, only instead of having one folder inside called "!!!character addons", you might have the following:

!!!A3 stuff
!!!V3 stuff
!!!M3 stuff

And you can further break up those folders into more folders inside if you want to further organize a figure's items by theme ie: clothing, shoes, hair, poses, jewelery, character addons etc.

Quote - The trouble is: Since those INJ+REMs are in this Folder....Poser always asks (for example) "please locate EarAnimal1.pz2"

That's because Poser looks for them in the specific location that they are installed to. > Quote - May be i have to change a line inside the pz2s?????

You will never come to the end of it if you do. I think you would have to continue to edit any character addon package you ever bought in order to not get that message.

Yep.

You're welcome.  The pose folder was my bane for the longest time.  It took me a year to finally get a system that worked for me. Unless you get a handle on it early on, that folder can get extremely unruly!!

But there shouldn't be any references to the files in the Pose library from other poses. After V3 SR 1 everything should go straight to the !DAZ folder, bypassing the individual Inj/Rem poses. A few characters do it the wrong/old way, but it really is very few in my experience.

As has been said, for Poser 5 you must copy the !DAZ folder to the main Poser Runtimelibraries folder, and it's a good idea to do so for Poser 6.

That's what I tried to say in my earlier post, heh heh.  So.... my trial-and-error led me to the correct solution ! ( pleased with self )

you can also use products like hogsoft's "PBOOST" to rearrange your libraries without messing up paths.

cheers
