why is the web site so slow. I thought the new system would fix the issue with speed. I have broadband and all the other sites work at normal speed

pearce ( ) posted Tue, 29 August 2006 at 5:16 PM

ditto to that.

It varies throughout the day, but I'm now in the habit of opening another page and doing a bit of web-surfing while waiting for the rendo pages to download during those doldrum periods. This is a perennial problem and I've given up all hope of any improvement.

What I could really do with is a timer that goes BONG! when the rendo page is finally cooked and ready :)

well, I have tried that but Rendo keeps logging me out

Yup! it sure has been slow this week. I like to personly thank people for their comments on my work, but recently to just send a note takes several minutes!!! so there's a lot of un-thanked people out there!! Sorry Richard, you might be one of them!! so thanks mate for your comments :)

If it ain't free, I can't afford it.

The Marketplace is quicker - at least comparable to most other sites with alot of members....

Of course, the servers the forums are on are not anymore of a priority now than they used to be back when the promise was that everything would be quicker after this big change thingy.

Don't be fooled because every other site in the world responds quicker, 'cause Rosity is...special.....
Just to the "reload" test, and see if instead of just reloading page data stuff, like most other sites...see if it's trying to load more ad stuff. Crapware - offsite ad bullshit tracking cookies.
That right there helps give the illusion it's slower.
Well, to be fair, it's not just an illusion.....

yesitis3: I, too, have broadband. Just recently acquired it. Hughesnet ISP satellite dish. I'm in the country. Only thing I could get on broadband. Pay $70 a MONTH for it.

I rarely, if ever, have any 'speed' issues with ALL other sites I visit.

Just this most wonderful site. When it decides to MOVE. WINK.

My best, TallPockets.

NOTE: I just posted the other day , twice, in one thread to Lillian H. I politely asked 'when' the long, prophesized conversion would 'actually' be completed.

What's that old song by the group, THE TREMELOES -- "Silence Is Golden". WINK.

StaceyG ( ) posted Thu, 31 August 2006 at 7:20 AM

TallPockets,

I know that Lillian was trying to get you a good ETA on the completion of the conversion before responding to the other thread.  She won't leave you hanging just give her a minute:)

And I agree that the site has varied slow times now, its slow for me as well sometimes.

I hate to keep saying it but its the truth, the conversion is getting close to completion and this speed issue will be addressed.

StaceyG wrote above, "I hate to keep saying it but its the truth, the conversion is getting close to completion and this speed issue will be addressed."

StaceyG: Hello, again.

I just got back online after a few days. ALL my other sites I just visited ran FAST. I got broadband awhile back as I said earlier at a HIGH price.

So, I once again, come to this most wonderful site and it CRAWLS.

"Waiting for excalibur.renderosity.com"

"Waiting for renderosity.com"

So, I clean out all my cache, history, cookies, log out, yada , yada, yada as the mantra goes and re log in again.

Still CRAWLING.

Look. I've been here a few years. So have many who comment. On this post and many others over the same years.

I cannot believe, that someone at Renderosity in a position to know, cannot, at a minimum, give an ESTIMATED date of completion for this long awaited changeover?

Is that asking too much from your technical advisors? I surely would think not, kind soul. ???

What and when is ''close to completion", StaceyG?

Thanks, in advance, for any/all help you or someone here can elaborate on behalf of ALL the wonderful members who make this site what it is. For EVERYONE.

TallPockets.

I agree with the comments above.I also think this issue of speed needs resolving now. Like lots of other people I have sat on the sidelines waiting patiently while completion dates for the conversion slide further back. I also browse the galleries on a regular basis and waiting up to a minute for a page refresh is just not acceptable. It cannot be blamed on my hardware and i am sure my broadband connection is ok because I only have problems on this site. I think a lot of people are getting fed up with this now and will drift away from the site if something is not done.

TallPockets,

I answered in the other thread you ask the same question in.

TallPockets,

I never did hear back from Miss Lillian? .... At least I never got any 'ebot' so stating such? .... If I missed her reply, my utmost apologies.

And I agree that the site has varied slow times now, its slow for me as well sometimes.

THANK YOU .... you are the 'first' kind soul on staff here that 'admits' that it DOES happen. LOL.

I hate to keep saying it but its the truth, the conversion is getting close to completion and this speed issue will be addressed.

I know it's the 'last' thing you want to hear from this grumpy, old man .... 'close' and 'soon' have been said for MONTHS .... Grrrrrr .... LOL ....

MANY thanks for attempting to address my questions and for your patience.

My best, TallPockets.

Stacey, this issue really needs to be addressed.  This speed issue is having an adverse effect on my screw-off time here at work :)

StaceyG ( ) posted Wed, 06 September 2006 at 12:01 PM

LOL. I understand believe me I do. It gets frustrating for me as well. I'm doing all I can I promise:)
