Subject: Why don't IBL's affect specular materials?

I know it'll probably be a technical reason, but it'd sure be handy to avoid having to place extra lights in a scene just to pick out those details.

becouse for efficiant calculation of specularity the renderer needs a difinitive source point for lights. Image based lighting has no source point.
