Subject: Looking for P5 animators with M2 - experience only -

gammaRascal ( ) posted Wed, 13 September 2006 at 11:42 AM · edited Tue, 19 November 2024 at 2:57 AM

Hey folks, most of you know me, some of you don't.

I'm currently working with my partner on a tech demo with the garage game 2d engine and our deadline is set for October 21st.

My job is all things graphic and animated. His, is all things code.

So far we are extremly pleased with the way things are building.   So I thought, for variety sake, I would offer up some opportunity for an animator or two who might be interested in seeing a peice of their work in something like this. Sorry, we can't give you any details about the game at all.... BUT, I can explain what I'm after specificially, since it's animation based and why I am here.

I am using p5 with Don, Judy and M2.  I'm building zombie walk-cycles.  Here are two of the four I have so far.

I am looking for caliber and quality. Must be dynamic and totally zombie... Walkdesigners not prefered... So you gota be able to keyframe your own cycles from scratch. Use only M2 and send only the animation set. Bear in mind, these are zombies, 30frame cycles will not work, use 1:30 as a start and you can go as high as 2:30 for a single cycle.

If your interested, post here or PM me.

those two zombies are pretty cool IMVHO I was thinkin it might be fun to do an ipod zombie let us know if ya get any volunteers (I'm guessing there's no money involved).

gammaRascal ( ) posted Wed, 13 September 2006 at 3:29 PM

Thanks for the kind words :)

Those are two of four, plus 1 skelly and a fifth I'm currently building the cycle for.

Thats right, no money. It's for bragging rights and credit. Anyone who sends work that is used, gets in on the ANIMATORS credits list and a copy of the finished game of course. Those are kinda givens, sorry I didnt mention it.

Nothing like a game in your portfolio, no matter how lame it might be :) Though, we're not shooting for lame.

Variety is the key. I'm hoping to get at least 10 different zombie types, a few skellies and some other odds and ends.

Oct 21st folks, get keyframing!

Feel free to post your work here for evaluation or help if you wish. I'm always available for that.

C'mon folks... I know some of you are itching to do something...

What the buck!?

it's lookin' good IMVHO, that poster. I know they can do this, even tho none of 'em have entered the banner contest. poser makes it easy, actually. the walk designer is so screwy that the wrong bvh file will automatically make mike look like a zombie

gammaRascal ( ) posted Sat, 23 September 2006 at 2:41 PM

Lol... the walk designer just makes the whole cycle a joke since every frame is keyframed, it becomes very difficult to add any nuiances or subtlety to anything without screwing it all up.

We all dig the poster/splash graphic. It's going to be used as the front end w/instructions as well as for the website when we release.

The AI, the level, graphics, animations... They are all wrapping up soon with some room to spare on our end. We're leaving it open to any additions if anyone is interested. We're not waiting for anyone, this is just an opertunity for people/someone to add something in so they can use it for their demo.

Audio is next and we have our own studio and sound engineer who will be making nice eerie loops for us... I'll be doing Buck's VO's and we'll be sampling my partners 1 year old for the ambient and zombie sounds :P

Still ongoing.

So far 7 zombies and 1 skelly. I'm hoping for 10 zombies so if anyone is still interested in putting out, the tech demo will be released on the 18th for playtesting. Gota get in before that.

Well its all done.

It was a helluvan experience. I'd love to share it but there is nobody to share it with here and we cant have it posted in the forums. I'll keep my projects to myself next time. Sorry folks.

Damn, I'm sorry i missed out on this!  Hope the game worked out.

gammaRascal ( ) posted Sat, 02 December 2006 at 7:28 PM

It totally did :) It was a tech demo and we it was accepted with rave revues by friends, family and ex developer of actual game companies we know.

Last night my partner and I had our first production meeting for the actual game. We've setup a tentative release for Aug1st, but we're hoping to get it out asap. Hitting the casual market so it'll be a cheapo title. If it goes over well enough, we'll do expansions. If it doesn't go over well enough, we've already got a new project concept ready to go.

Either way, we're making games.

If you're interested, show me some work. This new version will encompass all of the same elements but upgraded. If your a decent animator, we could use one more. If I think you could be of benefit to the game, i'll send ya a link to the tech demo and you can check it out and see what we've done.

Min specs on the tech demo, however, are 2ghz or higher. 1 gig of ram or more and a min 128card. This is a tech demo after all, not optimized at all.
