Subject: Controlling Material Size?

metabog ( ) posted Thu, 21 September 2006 at 3:20 PM · edited Thu, 02 January 2025 at 2:17 AM

I've got several different sized objects in a poser 6 scene and I've applied the same "veined marble" material to each of them in the material room. What happens is that the larger objects expand and enlarge the material - while on the smaller objects the material looks smaller and more detailed. Can that be controlled? Can I manipulate something in the material room so that the "veined marble" texture appears at the same size and resolution on all the objects? Or must I create a custom MAT file for each object to achieve this? (Sorry I'm still a bit material-challenged at times)

I don't know the "veined marble" texture. Is it an image or a set of nodes?

If it's an image then changing the U_Scale and V_scale will give you the adjsutment you want.

If it's based on the built-in nodes, then at least one of them will probably have a "scale" parameter which should do what you want:-)

Ooops - edited to add:

Just found the "Blue Veined Marble" in the "Stone" material library.
It's based on the Granite node. Changing the scale inthe Granite node should work (you'll not see any changes in the preview, you'll have to render to see the difference... might take some time..)

You'll need to check the "Global_Coordinates" box on the Granite, Spots and Spots_2 nodes to make the material look the same regardless of the UV mapping or object scaling.
