Subject: Poser is for Perverts?

13 at the table, like the Last Supper. Considered bad luck in some cultures. Usually some stranger gets invited to dinner, but usually they're planned not to happen.

Hmmmm, Poser for Perverts? ok now that is a funny, I use both D/S as well as Poser 6, mostly to create art for my wife's siggies/tags (Electronic Signature Tags, for those who are not in the know). I made an agreement with her, she don't like to much nude art and I made an agreement with her that all my art there will be no nudes just for her, but some of the art she downloads might as well as be nude, lol. I don't mind nude art, if you look in the Bible it clearly states that Man and Woman was clearly nude, hmmmm that makes me really wonder about religion. If it was ok with God then why should it not be Ok with man. My philosophy on that is when someone says something is for Perverts then they must be Perverts themselves but will not admit it, lol :tongue1:

Quote - Art is conceptual, it is in the eye of the beholder.  What one person finds as art another will see as trash.  I feel because of this our children should be taught the basics but not graded on it.  And the same goes for people who use Poser, D|S, Bryce or any of the other 3D programs out there.

If WE all liked the same type of things this world would be a very dull place.

You are making the familiar error of confusing "what you like" and Art. Art is not in the eye of the beholder. Something does not become Art just by someone saying "It's Art". It may do if that person can then say why it's Art. And "because I like it" is not sufficient reason.

I usually keep out of the forums but I need to through my oar in this one.

Lets quote WIKI

"To express your idea and feelings is art, it may be in form of paintings, sculpture, acting and music etc." Rehan Khattak. Art is an application of a creativity that has some form of appreciative value, usually on the basis of aesthetic value or emotional impact. Much about art is controversial, including what specific cases can be considered such.

So Art is really in the hands of the creator. It's up to the creator whether something is art or something else e.g. Pornography. Interpretation of art is the interpretation of whats the artists motivation and thoughts were. Judgement of art is again the judgement of the Artists motivation and intent.

Poser like a camera or brush is just a tool. It's the artist who creates the image who ultimately knows what his intent is / was.

So Artists will create Art and Perverts will create Perversions. But who is to say which is which? I can't get into anothers mind and I'm sure no one would like to live in mine.

I have to judge each piece by my standards and morals. Thats my limitation. Not the Artists.

Actually I think you'll find that is the BEST & ONLY reason anything can be called Art.

**Ok, I am repeating myself here, but Poser is for Perverts?

Seeing that I use mostly D/S (and seeing that D/S use to be part of Poser) I look around for stuff I can use with D/S plus I have look at most if not all of the Gallery's I see a lot of great looking ART. Granted there is a lot of Characters that was created for Poser as well as D/S but there is a bit of ART that has no Characters at all, nor any nudity. I see a quite a bit of Nature art created with Poser, so if Poser is for Perverts then you must be a pervert to enjoy nature, hmmmm. **

gad, anything with character creation or use could be considered the same way. I guess Maya would be for perverts, only very wealthy ones..;)

Absolutely not. In that case, tea is Art, because I like tea. Anything is Art, and the term becomes useless.

The criterion for Art is profundity of expression. Art is what transcends the trivial. I think some people here need to read some serious Art criticism.

Quote - there is also the nation of islam party which is anti white and believes in black seperatism.

Not to take away from your argument of the reality of racism from all sectors of the human race, but there is a huge difference between seperatism (different ethnic groups should live in different areas and remain separate) and supremacism (my skin colour is better than your skin colour...). Whilst neither is aprticularly helathy attitude (in my humble opinon, anyway), practicing separatists rarely do anyone any harm, but simply keep themselves to themselves. Supremacists, on the other hand, have no qualms about whaling in on 'inferior' people - if they even consider such victims peope in the first place.

Poser is a tool, no more no less.

Like paint is the tool for a painter.

You never question the tool.

You question the person behind it.

just my 2 cents

So apartheid was good.

Stupidity also evolves!

"Keeping themselves to themselves" looks OK on paper. Apartheid looked OK on paper ("separate development" seems innocuous). The devil is in the detail, as apartheid demonstrated.

Making a really good cup of Tea is an Art, especially as it can go so badly in the wrong hands.

Serious Art Criticism is subjective at best, what the critic says is just their opinion & I never trust critics to get it right.

Why stop there? You could go on and say that you disbelieve in the theory of relativity, quantum physics and the rest. These scientists - what they say is just their opinion and who trusts them to get anything right?

Lucifer_The_Dark ( ) posted Thu, 28 December 2006 at 9:24 AM

I believe what I see with my own eyes, the rest? well it's all just smoke & mirrors isn't it?

Comparing science to art is like comparing apples to oranges, lol. The first Art form was man in which God created Man but in retrospect it is also Science it got seperated after that. Critics on the other hand are people who really don't know art if it bit them in the arse, hmmmm I guess I am my worse critic then, lol....
